Gorillas are the vast living primates that are found in African Jungles in the wild. The Gorillas range between heights of between 1.25 and 1.8 metres then weights of 100 and 270 kg. The Gorillas live in groups of 8 to 12 and more members with a leading Silverback Gorilla which s Male leading the group in all their varying daily activities through patrolling, calling shots, choosing where they eat, what they eat and the rest from adult females, black backs, infant Gorillas and juveniles have to follow.

Gorillas are distributed into two varying species i.e the Eastern Gorilla and Western Gorilla with four/ five subspecies. Gorillas share DNA similar to that of humans from 95 to 99% hence making them close to humans after the Bonobos and Chimpanzees.

Gorillas are known to live 30 to 40 years in the wild natural habitats that include tropical or sub-tropical vegetation terrain in Sub Saharan Africa.

Gorillas are further distributed into Mountain Gorillas and Lowland Gorillas. The Mountain Gorillas are known to occupy the hilly/ Mountainous regions in Africa where as the Lowland Gorillas (Eastern & Western) are fond of preferring to stay in the lowland swamp areas of the DR Congo as they wander to the North of Africa.

About 316,000 western gorillas and 5000 Eastern Gorillas are known to live in the wild. The Gorillas are known to be very endangered due to their exposure to rampant poaching, disease, habitat destruction hence making them so fragile and are protected in the National parks and Reserves.
