Day by Day Itinerary of the 5 Days Mt Elgon Hiking Safari

Day 1: Arrival then to Sipi Falls

Arrive at the Enetbbe International Airport where you are picked up by our driver guide who transfers you through Kampala to Mbale Town. The journey takes you a period of 5 to 6 hours and when you reach here, you shall embark on a four hour hike to the Khauka caves or transfer to the view point through the Nabuyoga loop to spot the Jackson Summit and the prominent Wagagai peak. Afterwards, proceed to check-in lodge for Dinner and Overnight. Sipi River Lodge.

Day 2: Guided Nature Walks

Today, have breakfast then continue to the Kapkwai Forest Exploration Centre where you leave to embark on the 7km bamboo trail to Kapkwai Cave as well as the 3km ridge trek to the beautiful Chebonet Falls. You can as well as take on the full-day hike through the tropical and bamboo forest towards the Tutum Cave. En-route the trails, watch birds, primates and beautiful flora like the Elgon tik and Elgon olive. After the guided walks, continue to lodge for Dinner and Overnight. Sipi River lodge.

Day 3: Sipi Falls Hike

After taking breakfast in the morning, you will transfer on a short community organized walk to the amazing Sipi Falls to view the 3 different waterfalls. Vivid anglers should do some fishing along the 3rd waterfall where they can catch the rare fish species called the Rainbow trout. You hike to the third waterfall for a period of 4 to 5 hours and when you reach here, take many photos of the waterfalls to keep with you. After the Sipi Falls Hike, you shall return back to your lodge for relaxation, Dinner and Overnight. Sipi River Lodge.

Day 4: Coffee Tour-Budadiri Hike

Wake up early in the morning have breakfast then transfer on a guided walk to explore the cultural Sipi Widows Group then proceed to the coffee plantation where you will learn about how to plant, pick, grind, store and clean the coffee beans.

You will meet the various residents i.e the Sabiny people and learn about their unique cultural traditions as well as traditional weaving and preparing local traditional meals. Otherwise, you will transfer from Budadiri to the Mudange Cliffs also known as the “Walls of Death”. Dinner and Overnight at Sipi River Lodge.

Day 5: Departure to Kampala or Entebbe

Breakfast in the morning then with your luggage, proceed on departure to Kampala or the  Entebbe International Airport to board your flight back home.
