8 Days Hiking Tour along the Lemosho Route gives you an exceptional hiking adventure along the majestic Mountain Kilimanjaro via the Lemosho Route till you reach the famous Uhuru Peak Africa’s highest point.
Arrival Day at Kilimanjaro Airport
On arrival at the Kilimanjaro International Airport, you are welcomed by our driver guide who takes you through a meet and greet session about the hiking adventure along the Lemosho Route. After the precise briefing, you are transferred to check-in lodge/ hotel for Dinner and Overnight. Maridadi hotel.
Day by Day Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Lemosho Gate –Mti Mkubwa Camp
Enjoy breakfast in the morning then with all belongings, depart from Moshi on a 3 hours’ drive through Mountain side Villages till you reach the Kilimanjaro National Park Gate. Wait for your hiking permits to be issued then later proceed on trek through the stunning rainforest, windy trails, flora and faunal species. The trails are muddy and slippery hence hikers should have gaiters and trekking poles to enable them transfer with ease along the trails.
Day 2: Mti Mkubwa Camp- Shira 1 Camp
Today, have breakfast then embark on transfer through the rain forest then ascend along the trails steadily till you reach the rim of the Shira Plateau as the temperatures begin to drop. On reaching here, relax then have Dinner and Overnight at Shira 1 Camp.
Day 3: Shira 1 Camp- Shira Hut
Breakfast in the morning then proceed on journey for 5 to 7 hours as you explore the Shira plateau for a full day. You follow a gentle walk East to Kibo’s glaciered peak, across the plateau that leads to Shira 2 camp on moorland meadows by a stream. You shall continue to Moir Hut situated along the base of Lent Hills. While here, you shall get to have many walks on Lent Hills making this an ideal opportunity for acclimatization. Dinner and Overnight at Shira Hut.
Day 4: Shira Hut-Lava Tower then Barranco Camp
Breakfast in the morning then proceed on hike for a period of 4 to 6 hours. You shall transfer from the Shira Plateau towards the East up a ridge via the junction towards Kibo Peak. You shall then continue South East towards the Lava Tower referred to as “Shark’s Tooth” which elevates 4650m/15,250ft. After the tower, you shall get to the second junction that leads to the Arrow Glacier were you leave from to continue on descent to Barranco Camp for Dinner and Overnight.
Day 5: Barranco Camp-Karanga Camp
After breakfast, embark on transfer for a period of 4 to 5 hours via a steep ridge up towards the Barranco Wall then to the Karanga Valley. You shall then continue to the junction that adjoins with the Mweka Trail. With determination, you shall see the power, agility, and strength of your crew as they trek over this wall that appears less challenging to conquer. Dinner and Overnight at Karanga Camp.
Day 6: Hike Karanga Camp-Barafu Camp
Breakfast in the morning then for 4 to 5 hours, embark on hike towards the Barafu Camp and when you reach here, you shall have finished the South Circuit. This offers you unique scenic views of the summit from varying angles. You shall then have early Dinner then Overnight at the Barafu Camp.
Day 7: Barafu Camp-Summit
Breakfast then embark on hike for 5 to 7 hours. You shall start between Midnight and 2:00 am on a mentally and physically challenging trek as you have to get to the summit. Proceed on way to the summit between the Rebmann and Ratzel glaciers which requires you to stay warm and focused.
You shall continue North West as you ascend through heavy scree towards Stella point on the crater Rim where you view the beautiful sunrise during your precise rest here. If you are a group of fast hikers, you can view the sunrise at the summit. From the crater rim, you shall take an hour to get to the summit (Uhuru Peak) where you encounter snow all the way.
On reaching the Uhuru peak, the highest point along the Mountain, congratulate yourselves then take many photos to keep at the highest point in Africa. Afterwards, embark on steep decent to Mweka Camp with brief stop at Barafu for lunch and precise rest/ relaxation. Dinner and Overnight at Mweka Camp.
Day 8: Mweka Camp-Mweka Gate then Moshi
After breakfast, it is time to say Goodbye to your crew. Carry your belongings and get on descent down to the Mweka Park Gate to receive you summit certificates and the trek follows through wet, muddy, steep regions hence we recommend you to transfer with gaiters and trekking poles. On reaching the Gate, get on your 4×4 vehicle at the Mweka village to drive you back to your hotel in Moshi for about 30 minutes to your Hotel for dinner, celebrations and Overnight. Maridadi hotel.
