Detailed Itinerary of the 12 Days Self Drive Safari in Uganda & Rwanda
Day 1: Arrive at the Entebbe Airport
Reach the Entebbe International Airport, get picked up by a driver guide who transfers you on a precise tour (optional) around Entebbe then after to your hotel in Kampala for relaxation, Dinner and Overnight. Cassia Lodge Buziga.
Day 2: Transfer to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary then Murchison Falls National Park
Delicious morning breakfast then embark on journey to the stunning Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for a period of 4 hours along the Gulu Highway. Lunch is en-route then after you reach Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary then proceed to be briefed on conduct around the Rhinos then after in groups with a lead park ranger guide, proceed to trek the Rhinos for a period of 1 to 2 hours then after you meet them and stay in their presence taking many photos with a camera that has no flash to keep with you.
After Rhino Trekking you proceed to Murchison National Park where you enjoy an en-route Game Drive as you check-in your lodge for Dinner and Overnight. Pakuba Safari Lodge.
Day 3: Full Day Game Drive in Murchison Falls National Park
Wake up have breakfast then transfer to the beautiful park for a full Day Game Drive along the various tracks watching wildlife wander around their natural vegetation habitat. You shall leave with packed lunch then you embark on Game Drive from early morning to midday then break off for lunch then after proceed on afternoon session watching more wildlife animals. After your Game Drive in the evening, you shall return to lodge for relaxation, Dinner and Overnight. Pakuba Safari Lodge.
Day 4: Game Drive and Boat Cruise along the Victoria Nile
Delicious early morning breakfast then transfer for Game Drive along the tracks in the Park watching wildlife animals until lunch time. Break off for lunch then continue for a Boat Cruise along the Victoria Nile where you view many crocodiles, hippos beneath the waters and other wildlife animals along the banks of the Nile. You cruise to the bottom of the falls where you watch the rainbow descending deep into the gushing waterfalls watching bird species, vegetation.
After the Boat Cruise, return to lodge for Dinner and Overnight. Pakuba safari Lodge.
Day 5: Transfer to Bwindi Forest National Park
Early morning breakfast then embark on transfer to Bwindi Forest National Park situated in the South Western part of Uganda. The journey takes you some hours with delicious lunch along the way then after you reach the park and check-in lodge for relaxation, Dinner and Overnight. Buhoma Lodge.
Day 6: Gorilla Trekking at Bwindi Forest National Park
Early morning breakfast then at 6:30 am, proceed to the park headquarters for short briefing on code of conduct around the Mountain Gorillas. Later, you are distributed into groups of 8 with a lead park ranger guide per Gorilla Group. The park ranger guide transfers you to enter the thick green forest vegetation to trek the rare species of Mountain Gorillas for a period of 3 to 5 hours and after a while, you shall meet the Gorillas and in hour, take many photos to keep with you.
After Gorilla trekking, get to the park headquarters for your Gorilla Trekking Certificate then later return to your lodge for relaxation, Dinner and Overnight. Buhoma Lodge.
Day 7: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
Have delicious breakfast then embark on transfer from Bwindi Forest National Park to Kibale Forest National Park. You shall have lunch en-route then after continue on your journey and when you get here, check-in lodge for Dinner and Overnight. Kibale Forest Camp.
Day 8: Chimpanzee tracking at Kibale Forest National Park
Morning breakfast then transfer to the headquarters where you are welcomed then distributed into groups of 8 with a lead ranger guide per group. After the allocation, you are transferred to the Kanyanchu Visitor’s center where you shall leave from to the starting point into the green forest. You then enter the forest to trek the Chimpanzees in their natural vegetation habitat for 2 to 4 hours depending on the location of the chimpanzees as reported by the rangers with radio calls.
You shall later meet the Gorillas and stay in their presence taking many photos to keep with you. After trekking the Chimpanzees and taking photos, you return back to your lodge for Dinner and Overnight. Kibale Forest Camp.
Day 9: Cross the border to Rwanda’s Akagera National Park
Early morning breakfast then embark on transfer to the stunning country of rolling hills (Rwanda) at Akagera National Park. Lunch is en-route then after a while, you shall reach the Park and check-in lodge for Dinner and Overnight. Akagera Game Lodge.
Day 10: Game Drive and Boat Cruise at Lake Ihema
Early morning breakfast then transfer for a Game Drive along the various tracks in the park where you watch many wildlife animals wandering around their natural vegetation habitat. Many wildlife animals inhabit the savannah vegetation and these include; elephants, giraffes, zebras, lions, rhinos, kobs, small antelope etc. After the Game Drive, break off for lunch then continue for an afternoon Boat Cruise along the Ihema lake where you watch crocodiles, hippos and wildlife along the shores. After the Boat Cruise, return to lodge or Dinner and Overnight. Akagera Game Lodge.
Day 11: City Tour and Genocide Memorial visit
Morning breakfast then embark on City Tour around Kigali as you visit the Genocide Memorials, National Museums, National Market to pick some souvenir then later, you shall have lunch and return back to your hotel for relaxation, Dinner and Overnight. Hotel Chezlando.
Day 12: Depart to Kigali Airport
Delicious breakfast then with all your luggage, depart to the Kigali International Airport to board flight back home.
